Born in Starnberg, Germany in November, 1946, Moe came to the United States in 1948 with his parents who settled in Baltimore, Maryland. He began playing the baritone and tenor saxophones in the band at Forest Park High School, where he graduated in 1963. In 1971, Moe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Baltimore, but soon realized that pursuing this field was not in his future.
In
1963, Moe helped form the Continental Rockers,
and played with the popular Baltimore teen band for
approximately one year before venturing away to become
acquainted with the night club scene. Since that
time, he has performed with Rusty and the Fidels, Frank
James and the Outlaws (formerly The Lafayettes), The
Epics, The Melodaires, The Package, Used Parts, and
most recently, Mary Lou and the Untouchables.
During his nearly 11 years with the Untouchables, Moe
was fortunate to be part of countless memorable moments
such as opening for Ray Charles, The Temptations, War,
KC and The Sunshine Band, Taylor Dayne, The Four Tops,
Dana Carvey, The Beach Boys, The Drifters and Kool and
The Gang. A picture of Moe playing the baritone sax
was featured in the Ocean City, Maryland Travel
Guide in 2001. That same year, the band was awarded
the Key to the City by the then-Mayor Jim Mathias.
During the Summer of 1998, The Untouchable Horn Section
proved instrumental in the group winning
a three-day Battle of the Bands contest on the beach
in the Eastern Shore resort.
Always
a fan of Do-Wop, and the 50's and 60's music, Moe feels
that he has really found his niche, and looks forward
to a long and positive experience with The Fabulous
Hubcaps. His expressed goal is to enhance an already
successful organization rather than merely replacing
a retiring member.
Today,
Moe and his wife of 34 years, Christine, his daughter
Rachael, their four dogs, and the family's cockatiel
live in the Owings Mills section of Baltimore County.
Aside from music, Moe enjoys spending time with family
and friends, exercising and last but not least, playing
pool!
